A few weeks ago my sister gave birth to this little bundle of perfection.
She is absolutely my favorite little thing to cuddle. I have my theories as to why I love her so much but I think the most likely reason is because she is my only sister's first baby girl. My sister has previously been blessed with five boys. When she told me she was going to have a girl I was so excited. Every Mama needs a daughter (at least I think so). And then I told her we had to throw her a party. I LOVE throwing parties, and there is no better excuse to throw a party than a beautiful baby girl. So a month or two ago we had a grand party.
My sister is very use to not pink things, so she previously kind of thought that this little girl was not going to be very girly, so I tried to humor her and keep things green (with a smidgen of pink in there). Alright maybe it was mostly pink with a smidge of green).
First of all the Sign in table, I displayed all the things that she was going need for her baby girl
It was perfect, the right colors, just the right size. came in a cute case so she could keep it for when she was a little older. Perfect in every way.
I got a little baby doll the perfect size for a little baby to hold and chew on.
I made a little pink tutu for her.
this is way too easy . . really this is the simplest project you can make for a little girl.
Materials include
elastic
tulle roll like this one:
steps include:
1. cut a piece of elastic the same size as the child's waist
2. tie it together (or sew it together if you wish)
3. determine the length you want the tutu. (I wanted it to be four inches long) double that and add an inch. (4+4+1=9)
4. Cut piece of tulle from a roll of tulle the predetermined length (in my case it is 9 inches)
5. fold tulle in half length wise
6. with elastic waist band lying on top of tulle pull ends of tulle through the hoop of tulle created by folding tulle in half... this ties the tulle on to the elastic with both ends hanging the same direction.
7 repeat steps 4-6 until you reach your desired fullness
8. you can embellish with a ribbon or fake flower or something, either you can hot glue it on or sew it on. EASY PEASY
And because this little girl was being born into a family of star wars fans, I decided her first dress up would have to be a Princess Leia.

I made this adorable sign for her
I got a mat for everyone to sign as they came to the shower.
and then I made sure I provided her with some of everything. I got this adorable tea set here

And because this little girl was being born into a family of star wars fans, I decided her first dress up would have to be a Princess Leia.
I simply crocheted a infant sized hat, and then made some really long braids and sewed them to the side. Oh her brothers were so excited that she was going to be not just any princess, but Princess Leia.
Moving on in
For the Deseret table I made this sign
Not displayed at the Shower but given to my sister after the shower I made this corresponding sign to hang next to the other one at home (I did this, because I know that for the first few years this little Princess will be sharing a room with a few of her older brothers).
Dessert was oh so delicious. My sister-in-law made key lime cake
and then we had watermelon and honey dew and pink lady apples and golden delicious apples with pink fluffy apple dip. As well as sour patch kids watermelon candy. we also had bags of pink and green cotton candy.
I think my favorite was the gift table
Nothing too spectacular, just an adorably soft teddy bear hanging by some pink and green balloons. (the bear's hair bow is a real bow intended to be used by my adorable niece).
The party was spectacularly fun
We mostly chatted, we played a few simple games. and then chatted some more and opened gifts
These are my adorable nephew and niece from my brothers (both born last December a few days apart)
While we were cleaning up my girls tried to look my sister. They thought they were so funny.
